Backup Creation Methods
WPvivid supports both manual and automated backup creation to fit different workflow requirements.
Manual Backup
Manual backups allow you to create on-demand backups with a single click. This method is ideal before:
- Updating WordPress core
- Installing new plugins or themes
- Applying major configuration changes
- Migrating website content
Scheduled Backup
Scheduled backups automate backup creation at predefined intervals. You can configure daily, weekly, or monthly schedules to ensure continuous data protection without manual intervention.
Scheduled backup tasks are triggered by WordPress cron events and usually require site visits to activate. Low-traffic websites may experience slight scheduling delays.
Backup Storage Locations
WPvivid provides flexible storage options to ensure backup redundancy and offsite protection.
Local Storage
Backups are stored directly on your web server inside the WPvivid backup directory. Local storage offers fast access and quick restore performance.
Remote Storage
WPvivid supports offsite cloud storage providers such as Google Drive, Dropbox, Amazon S3, FTP/SFTP, and other remote destinations.
Remote storage provides additional protection against server failures, hosting issues, and hardware crashes by keeping backup copies outside your hosting environment.
Storing backups only on the same server as your website does not protect against server-level failures. Always enable at least one remote storage destination for critical websites.
What Is Included in a Backup
WPvivid backups capture all critical components required to fully restore your WordPress website.
- WordPress database
Includes posts, pages, comments, user accounts, plugin settings, and site configurations. - Media uploads
All files stored in the uploads directory, such as images, videos, and documents. - Themes and plugins
Installed themes and plugins required for site functionality and design. - Core WordPress files
Essential WordPress system files required for site operation. - Additional custom files
Custom directories and site-specific assets located in the wp-content directory.
Backup Types Supported
WPvivid offers multiple backup types to fit different use cases and workflows.
- Full Backup
Creates a complete snapshot of your website, including all files and the database. This option is recommended for full disaster recovery protection. - Database Backup
Backs up only the WordPress database. This is useful when content changes frequently while site files remain unchanged. - Files Backup
Backs up WordPress files without including the database. This option is useful when updating themes, plugins, or media assets.
For most websites, a full backup provides the highest level of protection and is recommended as the primary backup method.
